You can make calling on your friends, neighbors and community easy and fun by making each call brief and simple. Try this script and expand it to fit your personality and situation as canvassing becomes rewarding.
Ringing the door bell.
Resident: Who's there?
Me: Hello, Mrs. Smith? (You can guess at her name from the voter registration.)
Smith: Yes.
Me: Hi. I'm a neighbor of yours. My name is [Your Name]. Shake hands if she's in reaching distance. Have you heard of Ron Paul?
Smith: No.
Me: He's running for president and is an exciting candidate. May I leave some information with you about him?
Smith: Ok.
Me: Here's my card with some Ron Paul websites and my phone #. Please don't hesitate to call should you wish to discuss this further. Do you have any questions I can answer now?
If she seems interested in talking further: Me: What presidential issue is most important to you? I can tell you a little about Ron Paul's position.
