Tips for going D2D 1. Remember never to argue. 2. To help get started, I find it useful to think of this as giving out information in an educational manner about Ron Paul. We are giving as opposed to asking for something, so we have a reason to be knocking on there door. Then you add to the process as you go, such as assuring that they are registered, and getting there name and phone number if they like Ron Paul. At a minimum, we are “hand delivering a high quality flyer with smile”. 3. If they are not interested, say “Thank you” and move on to the next house quickly. We don’t want to waste time with those that will not support Ron Paul. 4. Speak from your heart….Say only what you are comfortable saying…converse with them, rather than tell a script…it takes practice…I am just getting better at this now! 5. Refer them to the ronpaul2008.com website for more info…tell them you are not an expert in every detail and they will have to do some research themselves… If you do end up accidentally telling them what you think, and are not sure what Ron Paul says, be sure to tell them that is what you believe and you are trying to answer there question as best you can, though they need to look it up online to determine exactly what Ron Paul supports. 6. It is not necessary to discuss issue after issue, because they can be divisive and consume a lot of time. Remember your goal is to find Ron Paul supporters and potential supporters and verify that they are registered Republican and encourage them to vote in the Primary Election! Not to discuss issues. You can send them online for more information, and they can read the terrific flyer later. 7. Try the “Double Whammy”, Give them first the ‘We the People flyer” at the introduction and then later the “We the Founders” flyer if they are receptive to Ron Paul’s message. It works! 8. If you do not have Precinct maps or lists yet, zoom in on your neighborhood, and print out a google map with the streets on it, and start going Door to Door immediately…to every door. Just follow your path with a pen on the map to keep track of where you have been and record your progress. If you sign up for a google account you can save you maps and provide links to it for others to see online. 9. If there is a debate coming up, be sure to tell them the time and channel, so they know that you are there to help them with information. It goes over well! 10. Stand tall and proudly at the door, you are representing Ron Paul and the message of Liberty! Position yourself strategically so you are looking at the person as they open the door. You don’t have much time at most doors…so no time to waste! 11. Wear a Ron Paul badge and Ron Paul for President hat so you can be identified quickly. Part of this campaign is about Confidence I find. Many people are on the fence about Ron Paul, They kind of like what he says, they just need the confidence from others that it is OK to support Ron Paul. 12. Remember Ron Paul says he cannot eliminate the income tax unless the People and Congress change there views on what the role of government is...so his views there are not too extreme. Learn some of his quotes to answer questions and concerns. I also like the one about, “You cannot promote peace through the barrel of a gun” 13. Fold the voter registration forms in 3 along perforations and the 8.5 x 11’s in 2 so that they are easier to carry; People accept a compact flyer more easily than a larger one. 14. The new We the Founders flyer is sold at the same place as the We the People flyer. Ask that they fold it in half top to bottom for a little more…to make it the same size as the We the People making it easier to carry when hiking. Contact Papergraphics 603-880-1835 to order. Some people say the We the Founders is an even better flyer than the terrific We the People flyer. It’s Printed both sides 8.5 x 11! I like it as an addition to the We the People since it does not have Ron’s Picture dominant on the front. It is our “Secret weapon”, use it! 15. You do not have much time at most homes…perhaps only 15- 30 seconds. The art is keeping them interested if they are receptive, and moving on if they are not. 16. Hey…going D2D is great exercise too…you can skip going to the Gym! 17. Forget trying to convince those pesky people you know and have been trying to convince for years....go out and talk to a 100 today D2D now…and have more effect. 18. We only have roughly 2 months left until the primaries; It is time to get out there and head for the home stretch…and be able to say you did something for Ron Paul! 19. Once you get the hang of it…it is very rewarding going D2D…you can do it at your own leisure, without having to drive long distances to meetups. 20. Finally, you need to get rid of all those extra bumper stickers, DVD’s and road signs you have been stockpiling…before the Primary!…Going D2D is a great way to disperse of them!
