Please can someone VALUE this Doulton Lambeth Tobacco Jar?
Hello,
As can be seen in the pictures below I have a Doulton Lambeth Tobacco Jar, the jar features a picture of a dark green Ape smoking a pipe on one side of it and the word "TOBACCO" on the other.
The jar has been in my ownership around 80 years, I took the jar to a valuation around 15 years ago and they valued it at £300, they told us the design on the jar was by "Ethel Beard".
I beleive the jar was made in 1871.
I would be grateful of any information any one has on the jar including what it would be worth.

Prices seem to vary enormously. A Doulton Lambeth Tobacco Jar has a starting bid of under 15 pounds sterling. (not by Ethel Beard); but an art nouveau vase designed by her was sold for 99 pounds. No examples of a jar like yours appears on the net for sale.
Wouldn't it better to have it revaluated, given the fact that it was worth quite a lot of money 15 years ago.
